I finally got one. Not that I was against it in the first place. But I wanted to make (*D&*&# sure that whatever I put on my skin was something that meant a great deal to me, and that I could live with forever.

And when I say I got one, I mean ...just one. Though it is a bit big for a first (and possibly only) tattoo. Picture and explanation of the the design is in my gallery.

I have to admit, I wasn't sure how I'd take to getting one done. I'm not frightened of needles, heck I work in health care though needles aren't really a part of my work stuff. But it was all good. It hurt in places, it didn't in others. I was really still throughout the four and a half hours it took to do a bit over half the tattoo.

Now I have to let it heal before going back to get the rest finished. I can't wait.

My biggest problem is reaching my back to put the ointment on to keep it moisturized. I'm wrapping a clean (unprinted) paper towel around my kitchen spatula and putting the ointment onto that in order to reach parts of this tattoo. (sigh) Oh well! Do what we must!
